MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB                                                                                                                         

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Upstream Process Development Scientist to join our growing CMC- Upstream Process Development Team. S/he will play a vital role working on projects to design, develop, optimise, characterise and scale-up mammalian cell culture processes for the manufacture of exosome therapeutics. S/he will work on cell culture processes across a wide range of scales from shake flask, ambr15, ambr250 through to multi-litre suspension culture and scale-up to 50/200L single use bioreactors (SUB).


Design, develop and optimise mammalian cell culture processes suitable for manufacturing.

Work with production scales/systems such as shake flask, ambr15, ambr250, 2L through to 50L and 200L scale SUB’s.

Develop and optimise processes based on batch, fed-batch or perfusion modes of operation, including basal media and feed development and optimisation.

Exploit Design of Experiments (DoE) to aid efficient process development.

Work collaboratively with scientists in Cell Line Development, Downstream Process Development, Analytical Development and Pre-clinical Manufacturing.

Ensure experiments are completed and maintained according Company data integrity policies and procedures.

Troubleshoot equipment and methods within the process development and manufacturing teams.

Present data and conclusions to Evox CMC and Research teams.

Contribute to the maintenance and housekeeping of a safe laboratory working environment.

Experience & knowledge

BSc/MSc in a Biological Science, Biochemical Engineering or related discipline.

4-5 years post graduate cell culture process development experience, gained in an industrial laboratory, for example biologics and/or viral-gene therapy field.

Experience of working with automated systems such as ambr15/250 and/or use of DoE would be an advantage but not essential.
